Astria snails keep dying quick

I have an established FOWLR tank that has 10 fish and numerous blue legged hermits and serpent stars all from the Florida Keys. I keep trying to add a few astria snails and they only live a day or two. Can't figure out what is causing just them to suffer???? I am setting up my larger tank very shortly in which I previously had a full reef system in which my snails actually tried to breed. Used to look like I spilled a gallon of milk in the tank every few months. Please help!

Thought about that, but the tank only has 4 t-5 running right now and the temp is pretty cool. In addition, I have a big rubbermade container outside my house curing my old marshall island live rock and I added a couple hundred snails to it and only a very small number have perished over the last month, and its been over 90 outside every day.

I have actually collected many of these snails myself and they are sometimes in very warm, shallow water in Marathon.

Well, all I can say is it must be something in your water, maybe phosphates or nitrates. Check your parameters and see if something is out of wack. I know how frustrating it can be.

I realize you said you collected some, but something I noticed, buying them...

The times I have bought them and the shells were really clean and white, they often had a high rate of death. I suspect some people in the supply chain are bleaching them before selling...and it takes a few days to kill them. Some survive and some don't.
