astrina starfish killing.....

Is it possible that astrina starfish are eating / killing my GSP or just bothering them and their for causing them to die? I have 2 large colonies of GSP one on the back tank wall and one on the sand bed / rock, the one that's on the sand of the past month is just dying out I think it's have to do with the astrina starfish, because they are all over it.
And if it's not them, and they are all over it because its dying from something else, then what can cause
GSP to die??? I don't want to lose my colony that's on my tank back wall!!!

Could just be that the gsp on the sand doesn't like where it's at and the stars are just being a clean up. Could also be that you have a variety of astrina that eats that. Try picking the stars off and move the gsp somewhere else and see what happens.

some strains of astrina starfish eats coral. The majority are harmless.

This is true, I have always had the ones that were harmless until this year. I started watching my GSP in my 65 disappear. I added a Harlequin, after they were gone I moved him to my 300.
