Athias with Popeye

I have an Anthais with popeye that i removed from my main tank to my QT. I am planning on treating the infection with Maroxy by Mardel. I have read that popeye is a bacterial infection. Will Maroxy fix the popeye? Has anyone used this to treat popeye? Maroxy is used to treat fungus mostly and some bacterial infections (it says its ok for popeye) or should I go get Maracyn which is more for bacterial use?

Does the anthias have popeye in one eye or both? Not all cases of popeye are due to disease - there are mechanical issues (trauma and supersaturation). If the fish has swelling in both eyes, no "clear bubbles" present and the eyes are reddish or cloudy, then a bacterial problem is likely. If it is only one eye, or both eyes are clear (and you may see silver bubbles in them) the problem is more likely to be trauma or supersaturation.

Don't treat with antibiotics in your main tank of course, and I would not use either Maracyn (mostly effective against gram positive bacteria) or Maroxy (primarily an anti-fungal agent). If you want to stick with the Mardel line, consider Maracyn II, more effective against gram negative bacteria.
