Sure it will. Just because it is Old School does not mean it is inferior to new generation skimmers. Just my .02

Mfinn I have a bubble master 200. My sicce 2500 finally decided it would not restart. So I ordered a sicce psk 1000 from avast because I heard they don't have the restart problem. Will there be any other parts I will need to get to make it compatible? I figure I will have to open the wedge some more since it pulls more water. With the 2500 the wedge was almost entirely closed, and it still skimmed pretty dry.

I got one when they first came out. It's been in constant use since. Running it on a 180 right now and I'm seriously thinking of plumbing in my old 112 gallon in as well. I have had to replace the pumps twice but the skimmer works great. It was a lot at the time but considerably less then bubblekings as the mini did not exist at the time, nor did vertex ect. There may be newer technology but unless I was starting a 500 gallon reef I see no reason to change skimmers.

The mesh wheel design however was flawed in the fact that its lifespan was so much shorter. In the old days I would have to poke the pumps but my newer pumps are working fine and should work fine for several more years and then I will once again replace them.

I think the 200 and the 250 are set up different. I used pretty much all the old parts.

Reviving an old thread here. I hope someone can chime in with some observations. I too replaced the PSK-2500s with two PSK-1000s from Avast Marine. I have found since I did I have been having problems with the skimmer overflowing. I set the black knob and wait several hours or overnight and reset it again, inching up to the right setting, then all of a sudden the skimmer goes haywire and overflows. Then I have to turn it down and inch my way up again. I have had no end of problems setting it. I keep my hands very clean when working on my tank and find if I place my hands in the sump the skimmer overflows again. I don't have start up problems, but honestly it takes so long to adjust correctly I feel like for long periods of time I am almost running skimmer less. Any ideas or suggestions?

I had no problems when I switched the pumps.
But I did open the outflow as much as I could and very slowly closed it over a few days.
Once I found the sweet spot, it was good.

I do the same thing but have trouble finding the sweet spot. If I do get it, it may run fine for a few days. I clean the collection cup once a week, and when I put the collection cup back I have to start resetting it again. It should be set it and forget it but mine does not work that way. It used to with the PSK-2500s but as we all know there were the start up issues. The PSK-1000s don't have start up issues, just overflow issues....for me at least.
