ATI bulb combo question.

Don't put the purple up front. You end up wasting its main objective: to show off the pinks. Put it in the second slot or even third if it makes sense. But never the front or very rear.

I disagree somewhat on this, especially with 4 bulbs combos. Yes in one of my fixtures it's in the second slot from the front now.
I've place it in every combo imaginable & each has its own merit & every tanks coral & rock scape is different.

Having it as the second bulb from the front is best for overall color but when its in the front & back it makes the overall color change. When its in the very last (rear) slot it doesn't have the pink hue as it does if its in the very front, when its in the rear it creates a deep purple hue that blends very well with blue bulbs giving a deep purple undertone compared to the pink brightness of it being in the front/middle.

When you want a dawn/dusk combo of blue bulbs only you have to make sacrifice and only you will have to look at the tank & make it how you like it, there is no right or wrong just preferences.
I have the purple on the rear of my other tank. Its a cheap fixture.
Fixtures with poor reflectors aren't as picky with bulb placement as those with good reflectors, they blend better, but its not a good thing.

It all depends on what you like & work with what you have. I don't use dawn/dusk anymore, I turn on/off all the bulbs at once.

My SPS is in the top rear under the blue bulbs because they have the most PAR. I can turn on my dawn/dusk at night and have a beautiful blue/actinic combo that is much better than 2 blue bulbs & my LPS/softies are under the purple/actinic so they really have a lot of florescence & color.

I should try 2 blue & 2 purple bulbs again. Tastes change as you look at a combo you may decide you want this or that, it happens.

Normally the arguement is between LED and everything else? ATI lamp lovers can't even agree sometimes, gotta love it.

I have a 6 lamp fixture, and use aquapink, midday sun, blue+x2 purple+x2 at night its a blue and purple+ running just 1 of each and it has an amazing blue coloring to it. I love the color in the day also its not as blue but still have a good blue tone to it.
