Just got a ATI powercone 200is with the controlable pump and digital air meter

Has anyone had first hand expieriance with them and can give me some tips on water level performance any issues ect.

Thanks

I know it wasnt long ago these skimmers came out but it doesnt seem many people have them yet

I just put mine in and am working on getting it adjusted right(wich is realy cool because u can adjust the pump and the output and the output is really nice not the usual wedge pipe)

Right now its pulling 2400lph of air!!

I def am likeing this skimmer so far

No one else owns one?

Someone out of all these members must have one that can chime in on how these things perform in the long run and how stable the foam head

After the two year wait for it, I lost interest. I hope this version is better than the beta version they stuck Europe with. I had high hopes for it and was planning on it being my next skimmer.

I was reading about the first version(200i)
But the 2nd version which I have is the 200is it has a new volute(which was one of the main problems on the first ones and they changed the "grind wheel" so they also claim it makes it drawl more air and they also put a digital air drawl meter onthe new one also

I like it so far, time will tell, its only been set up for maybe an hour now

I heard the wheel needs to be cleaned often, could be the reason why they include the digital air meter (idiot light). I lost interest as well, maintenance like the old Beckett.

I read that it was the volute on the old model that would need alot of cleaning but the newer model has a totaly redesigned volute and "grind wheel" so it shouldnt have that problem anymore acording to ATI
But only time will tell

I went with this skimmer because I got it used but in brand new condition and for a great price otherwise if I was going to buy a brand new skimmer I was going to go with an ATB to be honest but the stats of this skimmer sounded really good and ATI isnt a bad company either so wat the heck

Hi from the other sie of the pond, I have the 250 powercone, had it for two years and just as the warranty has run out the pump has started giving off some stay voltage,so rather than get another one of their pumps im going to put a waveline dc5000 with skimmer kit on it, probs you will find is the pump and grid wheel need cleaning weekly as it looses air volume rapidly as soon as it starts getting dirty, also try and make sure nothing gets sucked up into the pump like small snails or alike as this will damage the grid wheel, but other than the above they are a good skimmer and will pull loads out if kept clean.

Hi 120 reefermadness not able to send pms at the mo as I don't have enought posts :spin2: spend more time on the uk reef sites and just pop in occasionally and see what's going on, I have one of the early powercones as in this link herehttp://blog.aquanerd.com/2010/08/atis-newest-skimmers-the-powercone.html/comment-page-1 hope fully I have not broke any rules posting that link, if so please except my apologies and remove, to be honest the air meter on the is version is so you can see when the pump is loosing air draw and needs cleaning and be carefully with the mesh wheel as it is only held on to the impella with epoxy but that maybe different now on the new version, if I was to go for a new skimmer today thou I would prob go with one of the RLSS line of skimmers.

Thanks for sharing ur expieriance, now im questioning if I really should have got this skimmer but what I paid for it doesnt make it seem as bad but time will tell

Mine was one of the first they brought out so I don't think they even called it the I version just the 250 powercone, no air meter and no control on the pump just plug in and play so to speak, as I said I know they did have issues at first with the pumps which they changed so you should be fine,if you search the web you only get good reveiws for them, I was prob unlucky that my pump made it past the warranty period and then failed, they are a great skimmer and mine should be again once I can find a supplier over here that can get me the waveline dc pump and skimmer kit

That gives me some

From wat ive read they totaly redesigned alot of the pump that was giving the probs

Ill keep everyone posted on how it goes

I have had the ATI Powercone 250 since September and I really like the skimmer. I do clean the volute once a week as with the air meter you can see that the air draw is reduced after one week. This is due to me carbon dosing. I could go longer, but it only takes a couple of minutes and I make this a Saturday morning thing as I drink my coffee.

I am very happy I waited the 2 years for this skimmer. As others have stated it is very quiet and pulls a lot of gunk. I have had no issues in the 6 months of owning it. I may buy another volute as the salt does build up in it, this way I can swap them and so it for a week and always have one without salt build up.

I think these skimmers got a bad name because the long wait and because the problems the first model had
But they supposedly got all the problems worked out

So far I like the skimmer alot as well tho
