ATO float switch

I've noticed my float switch in the sump for the ATO is a bit fickle. Sometimes, it works great, other times it gets stuck open or stuck closed.

How do you maintain this thing so it stays reliable?

Yeah. What kind is it. I am shopping and this is a huge concern for me too.

I'd recommend a new float switch. The alternative may be a freshwater flood that can overflow your sump onto the carpet.

If you have any children who might mess with the thing, not so good, but the simple Avast switch that you set just by raising or lowering a tube magnetically stuck to the side glass is real easy to set and stay set. It is vulnerable to having the tube nudged by accident, if you reach past it.

I'd recommend a new float switch.

+1 and always use 2 for redundancy...

Plus at least one on this. I have used these on 3 tanks now. Only one time did I have something not work after a year, and they replaced it without question.
