ATO on a small budget

I would go with the autotopoff.com setup with an aqualifter. It is still going to come in over 50 but if she is opposed to using a floatvalve that is going to be the cheapest way.

You're welcome. I ran an Aqua Hub for 6 years on my old tank and it went with the tank when I sold it. It's still going strong.

On a real budget you can use a small bottle of water and let it gravity feed into the tank. Similar to how a water cooler works. Water can't enter the tank until air can enter the top off jug from underneath. Simple and foolproof. If your tank is wavy it doesn't work quite as well but still decent. Joey the king of diy on YouTube does one as well. This only works on small tanks however.

Found a friend who had a extra Tsunami AT-1 and he gave it to me as payment for delivering a tank for him.

Worked out great.
