ATO What is everyone using

I have 2 of the JBJ ATo's. No issues up to this point. I run it in 2 sensor mode. I have the 2nd sensor (float switch) mounted upside down above the sensor that regulates the water level. Mounting the 2nd sensor upside down makes it act as a backup to the 1st sensor. Sounds crazy but this is the way you have to do it if you want to use the 2nd sensor as a failsafe.

Hi Mike,

How exactly is that set up?

I have a 100g Rubbermaid stock tank that I use as a sump. I keep about 30-40g in it. Would I be able to use the osmolator with this in combination with kalkwasser, or would a solenoid and float valve be better?

I don't really have the cash for an ATO and a nice Kalkwasser reactor (Geo/PM). Can I just do ATO and work around the reactor?

I apologize in advance if I am stealing this thread. My interest is in ATO and Kalkwasser without a $$Reactor$$.

Thanks,

easily done, get 2 food safe plastic containers, my ist resevoir with the tunze pump in it is 20 gallon and isnt sealed just has a flimsy lid on it, my second is 5 gallon, it could be bigger but im limited on space has a screwed lid and is pressurized, to do this drill 2 small holes in the top, basically the tunze pump goes into the first resevoir, and the water output pipe goes into the second resevoir via one of the holes in the top, there is a piece of plastic pipe glued into it and it sits about 2" off the bottom of the second resevoir when the lid is screwed on, out of the second hole is the water output to the sump, i use saturated kalkwasser in the second resevoir which is of course fed from the first, this way the tunze pump never comes into contact with anything except pure ro-di water and prolongs the life of the pump. when water is pumped to the second resevoir from the first the pressure in the second forces water out to the sump, it all sounds a little complecated but its very very simple, a bit like me:D

I've got a ghetto float switch I bought off ebay for 3 bucks (x2) that I wired into an extension chord. Works pretty well, but I will buy something a bit more "real" for the big tank build.
