i missed out on this group buy and purchased 5 of these strips on my own. so far ive found on every strip that each socket has connectivity issues. simply by bumping or moving a plug in one of the sockets causes loss of power to that individual socket. ive opened a few of these up to see what i could find and to my surprise i found that on average 1/2 of the ground wires were not connected to the sockets and nothing is crimpped tight to any of these sockets so power and ground wires can easily become disconnected inside the unit. the sockets are a snap in kind and most of the snaps werent fully engaged so they have to potential to come out completly from the unit. i just wanted to make sure everyone has a heads up and checks their units because there could be a lot of dead tanks from this group buy. stay safe and check that none of your plugs have any kind of connectivity issues and open the unit to verify grounding to each socket. hope that helps (im not responsible for anything that may happen to you or your tanks)

I have been using one of these for almost one year without issues, but I remember a while back, one of the plugs (#4) was loose compared to the other plugs. I didn't think much of it, since I don't plug / unplug things often.
But what the :eek1:
Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks Justin, I will be checking mine this weekend!
I did not notice any loose plugs when I was plugging in my equipment, but will check and report any problems I find.

Well, I think I should this for those who want to fix the problem.

1) use the plier to re-crimp loose contact:

2) Use meter to check the volt, it should be 115VAC.

3) Replace the switch, if you can or don't use that channel:

The loose wiring issue is an easy fix the loose outlet isn't. I tried bending the prongs and itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s still loose. Any ideas? In the mean time Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ll only use the control panel on non vital equipments.

In other news, I still have 7 units that still needs to be picked up. I'll post a list on a new thread when I get home.

You can solder the contacts so that they are permanently attached. Use solder that is rated for power wires.

to fix the loose contact in the socket i actually completely disassembled the plug and bent the contacts that are inside the socket so they kept contact with the plug being inserted. the metal tabs sticking out of the socket can be pulled out but some of them had a lock engaged making it slightly more difficult to remove. make sure you reengage the lock when you put the tabs back in otherwise you run the risk of pushing the tab out of the socket when you insert a plug. hth
