Stick a plastic toothpic horozontally through the base and use that to rubber band to a rock. Once attached, remove the rubber band and pull the toothpic out. Doing it this way you can get the bottom of the stalk to come into contact with your rock and you can adjust the pressure with the rubber band.
Thanks for the info, right now it's on top of one of my pillars with a rubberband holding it in place. It doesn't look very happy. I'll give this a few days to see if it works.
Try to use plain dental floss. That is what I have seen that works the best. I actually haven't had any luck with the toothpick thing. But then again, this is a hobby (addiction) full of opinions.
