I hope I am not stepping on any toes here.. I recently joined the SEAS, and I have never heard mention of a VP. If there already is one, please disregard this post. If there is not, I would like to nominate myself. I would like to see the seas club do more than have a monthly meeting. I think the activities are great, but I feel the club has the potential to be much much more. After visiting with a few seas members, I have gathered ideas, and opinions on a few things I would like to see the club do.. The first, being a mentoring program for newbies in the hobby. I would like to start a "help a newbie stock his tank program" where people can donate frags to the newbie. As far as a mentoring program, I would like to see new inexperienced club members have the chance to visit one-on-one with a member, where the two can visit each others tanks, and share ideas, and teach the newbie what they know about basic care of a saltwater aquarium. I would also like to see the club set up, and maintain an aquarium in a public place such as a library, or school, and take the time to hold a scheduled class once a month at the location of the aquarium for the public to attend to draw interest in the hobby, and more importantly, the seas club. I am sure between all of us, we more than likley have enough spare equipment to set up a public tank. I know some of the ideas may sound far fetched, but I believe the seas organization has the potential to be a thing that members are proud to belong to, and also believe that we can do a service to the general public, which will in turn draw attention to the club. I am sure there needs to be a vote or something if there is not already a VP,.. and I did not know how else to say "I'm interested!". I would also like to resume the maintenance of the SEAS site, as I see it needs a little updating. I have LOTS of web design and maintenance experience. I run my own website and forum if anyone would like to view it, the URL is http://www.exoticbirds.us . My site should more than show my ablilty to design and maintain a site. Thanks for reading my little post, and I look forward to getting to know each and everyone of you...
