Attn all bangii cardinal experts

Got a question for any bangii experts. I have had two bangiis for a couple months now, they have so far got along ok but left each other alone. Today one is following the other around right behind it. Also the two fins on the top of them one are both sticking straight up while the other has the first one laying back into the second. I have never seen them act this way before. What is going on?

Any chance they were trying to make more Cardinals? I've never owned Cardinals, but it sounds like it could be a courtship ritual. It would be very interesting to observe...

I have never noticed the fins laying down on either of my cardinals but they do bicker a little before the eggs are transfered to the male's mouth. You will notice quite a bit aggression inculding fin nipping and chasing especially the day prior. If they keep up with the actions you are describing for too long though I would separate them because two males together will fight until the weaker is killed.

Have you had problems with them before? I got mine from chad. As far as aggression there was none last night just following around. There has never been aggresin

If my memory serves me right, the wild caught version have an low survival rate. Scott Michaels' recommends captive bred. That's probably what you bought.

Im pretty sure that they were wild caught. I got them for like $12 apiece. I think if they were captive GWA would mark them as captive. They have not had a problem eating since day one.

I would think they were captive breed, I have never been to a store where they post captive breed or wild caught on anything except clowns.

They always do bangiis. Most stores dont have anything but clowns that are captive breed. captive breed ones go pretty high and are hard to find. Maybe chad or steve will read the post and weigh in on it.

I know Gateway also carries ORA captive bred neon gobies. I bought some this month. They are a little more expensive but not much. They are great at cleaning my purple tang.
