Attn Chinese BB (viparspectra) and SPS owners

2-165w, Viparspectra 12" above surface, 48x18x18 tank.
Running 25 months at 100% blue, 40% white.

No problems with 7 different Monti, and 3 Acros to date.

The problem with the unmixed Viparspectra type lights is the light is not as diffused which can lead to hotspots. I am fixing this problem by adding a Halo in the middle with its 110 degree lense which uses one lense to really mix those spectrums and soften the Vispar hot spots.

The lights arent too aggressive for them?

What you mean by too aggressive?
Too much PAR?
I was thinking a bit weak on PAR, or at least in compare to AI or Radion.

I think they are a bit weak on configuration, the individual led thing is cheaper to make but by design, less diffused. T5 lighting goes corals best due to the diffused nature of this lighting, just to expensive in my mind.

It's really the blues for corals and while corals do use some red and green, I keep this colour down on intensity as they also feed algae.

what's this now?

I remember seeing the low par/crazy hot spot video that BRS put out - what's this halo? Finish one yet?

interested in what you end up with.

Just adding another light in the middle of the two VISPARSPECTRA.
Aquatic Life Halo Deluxe is an inexpensive Reef LED light which uses the many led close together one puck style instead of individual LEDs. This diffused light source mixes with the CCB light and removes the disco ball effect and provides nice shimmer.

It comes with an 80 and 110 interchangeable lense.
