August 16th Meeting in Atlantis

With it being summer time, we need a headcount of who will be going to the Saturday August 16th meeting / BBQ at Atlantis in Riverhead Long Island. We need to determine if we need a bus of our own or will be riding along with BRS.

The cost is for CTARS members:
Adults : $40
Children under 3: Free

The cost is for Non - CTARS members:
Adults : $60
Children under 3: Free

I would love to go. Went the other year for NERAC. Their reef tank is absolutely crazy!!! Giant Sohal's, Clown Tangs, longnose filefishes that normally eat acro's in a reef tank??!!

However, my wife's due on august 28th; probably not a good idea for me to commit to going. Sorry!!

I will most likely go, but I will probably just take the LI ferry across myself and drive down so i can take the family along...by the way, is it 40 if I drive myself?

I am 99% for me , wife and kid. I was so mad I missed it last year. Ive heard nothing but good things. Plus I saw it on sesame street.

The wife and I are on board. We'll most likely drive ourselves though.

I've heard a couple of people say they would rather drive themselves. Rather than get a bus, would people rather car pool? If we can't substantially fill the bus, then we won't get it.

As for the pay by date, I am thinking of July 1st (but I am not committing to that just yet). After that date, the price will go up by $5 or $10.

Im a little sick of driving myself and my main draw besides the trip of course is not having to drive for once. Also who knows what gas will cost by then! Its $20 to get in normally so for me its definetly better to take the bus. Cmon everybody chime in. BUS, BUS, BUS.

Just a rough estimate its 360 miles for me round trip. At a rough estimate of 20 miles to the gallon at the going rate of about $4 a gallon thats $72 in gas. Thats about $40 more than the bus trip. Im guessing the gas will be more by then to.

Keeping in mind, taking the ferry out of New London is $48 for car & driver plus $24 for each adult (round trip).

The Bridgeport Ferry rates each way are:
$51 for auto and driver
$14.75 for each adult passenger

Im on the bus, the ferry ride alone is outstanding. I lived in Connecticut my whole life and did not realize how nice that ride across the sound would be.

I didn't go last year and really want to go this year. I'm a little confused on the price. What does the $40 cover? Is all travel covered plus getting into Atlantis? That sounds like a pretty good deal if that's the case.
