Aussie Acan, Do they really stay that bright?

I have been looking at a few aussie acan colonies. I was wondering if there colors faded after a while. All the one I have seen are pretty fresh, any input would help. Thanks!

Yeah they keep their color if under right conditions. A lot of times they will color up even more after they are in captivity.

All mine have colored up better. Except the green ones. They stay green but not as bright green like when you first get them.

It all depends on your lighting and feedings. What type and kelvin lights are you running?

They will keep colors. You need to put at a correct lighting. Some need high light, some very low light.

Not true. There's a member on Club-zoa that had his lose their colors in intense light.

Yea, they really brighten up when you get them going!

I bought a Rasberry Something Aussie Acan from Fragglereef.com

When I got it, it had a Cherry Red Center with Purple/Silver outlineing around each polyp... quite pretty...

Now, all the new polyps are still Purple/Silver Outlineing, but...
They have Yellow Mouths, Green Rings around the mouth and Cherry Red untill it touches the skirt!

They are amazing! I cant wait for it to grow out!!!

You can run some different bulbs to see what kind of effects you get with them. T5's have some good color combinations out there.

I got a frag of those from FR too. Mine gained the light purple rings and then seem to have lost them again. They're really dark red in the centers and mint green around the edges.

The colors are awesome.

I did buy one that was doing horrible in the intense light all day. I moved it to the shade and the colors really came back. And I mean it's completely shaded but puffy every day. Not a fast grower.

I bought a frag of chocolate acans that was about 10 heads for $10 because it was ugly and he wanted to get rid of it, I though hey why not get to try a acan for cheap. Now after 6 months it doubled in size and is neon green and red no brown what so ever

Sometimes with my colony of red and green ones the green will actually look teal depending on what I feed it.

They will stay bright for sure, but they may change colors a bit.

As with the last post, they may stay bright, but change colors, or dim and not change color, they are an odd creature that are particular with lighting. That is why you will see a frag on a site for some time and never again under the same name because it has morphed to a different color, fragfarmer in think, retires coral because colors change so often.
