aussie acan lighting and feeding ?

I have 2 aussie acans 1 is red with mint stripes and has big heads on it and I see tenticals on it during the day and night and this one will eat when I target feed.

The other has small heads and is blue with a red center I have only seen tenticals on it once feed it some cycopleeze.

I had them lower in the tank but the blue one was faced up the red was down and sideways.

I now change them with each other so the blue one is sideways trying to perk it up.

This is a 12 gallon 70 watt hqi.

Is it normal to not have the tenticals come out or was the light too much for it just trying to get some ideas.

I would just put them in an area that has lower light intensity, or maybe even a slightly shaded region. Don't move them around too much, and give them some time.
