Aussie Acan Lords

I have several Aussie Acan Lords that have begun receading. When a head of one of the corals is totally gone, the skeleton is turning a red color instead of a typical "off white" skeleton color. I'm wondering if this is caused by some kind of an infection or some other illness.

Has anyone else experienced this happening?

By the way, I do not have any red slime alage.

Thanks

Could be a diatom or algae thats taking over the skeleton...its hard w/o pics. Try fragging off all the dead skeleton with a dremel or wet saw and feeding the crap out of it. Most Acans are super hardy and will recover quickly from cuts but is something is infesting it, you want to stop it from continuing to recede. Feeding every other day or so is key too. All the Aussie I keep do much better when fed and given good, strong light.

According to Calfo, its harder energetically for a coral to recolonize its own dead skeleton once it has other organisms on it than it is for it to make new skeleton.
