Just got a nice sized piece from a friend who has had it for a while,& recently it hasent been doing so well for him.I keep 95% SPS,& this is my first Acan.

Where should i put it?

I have 2 250w 10k Hamiltons,& 2 VorTechs for flow in a 75g reef.

What kind of light was it under? I'd put in on the bottom and see how it does, then move it up later, they are pretty adjustable and hardy but don't need that much light.

It was under 250w 14k's.

I did a search,& think i found out what was wrong,his refractometer was off by 3 points.he had 1.028.

Sand bed, moderate flow, and good lighting. My experience shows that the aussie acans like higher light than other LPS like brains, etc.

You can also feed them small meaty foods to help them thrive (mysis, cyclopeeze, etc). Typically, feeding tentacles are extended at night.

I put most my acan close to bottom ( few inches off sand bed ) where still have good light and feed mysis every other day.
