Hi, I have 2 other torches for over 2 yrs now, but this is my 2nd attempt at keeping a gold torch. The first one literally melted away w/in 48hr time :(... The others were listed as indo torches.
My paras are as follows:
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 3ppm
Phos .5
I do regular 5% water changes weekly, this new touch was pretty ok the first 3 day, them started looking droopy. Any advise on keeping the Aussie gold, is it much more difficult to keep than the ones from Indo?

i'm planning on getting some of these aussies too later this month..I hope they survive on me after reading your post

Low light and low flow are what most all euphyllia like.

What are the rest of your parameters? Why only a 5% wc weekly?

I've had mine for awhile now. Like already stated, lower light and lower flow. I will say that I've had a torch here and there melt like you have.

If you think it's going downhill, you could do an iodine dip. I did this to a torch and 2 hammers (a wall and a branching) which had protozoan/ bacteria infection and all 3 survived.

Almost like a regular dip. I recommend using Lugols by Brightwell which is a very good product. Just follow the instructions, they are simple.

Quote: "How do you do an iodine dip?"

I put 10 drops per liter or 40 drops per gallon of Lugol's iodine Process: get a separate container in which the coral will fit comfortably with room for a small powerhead so it doesn't blast the coral. Get as much water from your tank estimating how much you need to fully cover coral. Put the iodine in using a pipette so you can count the drops. Mix it, put the coral in. If you can float the container in your sump/DT do so so temp doesn't change. Put the powerhead on and put your stopwatch on. I've had success by dipping for 30 minutes. After the time is up, take the coral out and rinse with tank water before placing it back in your DT. You'll notice an improvement the following day. If necessary you can repeat the process every 24 hours until you see good polyp extension.
