I just ordered this. do you guys think its actually gonna look as good as the picture?

it was $100 for 3-4" but if it looks half as good as the picture, it's definitely the best replacement for my RBTA (which i sold out of fear of migration).

I have a very strong feeling that it won't look like that.

+1 .. If you look at the egg crate at the front of the pic it also shows a similar color, I don't think it's from a radiating coral. Maybe from a light source directly above the hammer or a bit of a shopped photo

i bought it from treasurecoastcorals.com

it was $100, and the last one in stock.

The thought of passing it up if it really is as nice as the picture was just too much. we'll see though. i will definitely post back here when it arrives. it should arrive tomorrow...

thanks birdman, your picture is very blue, so its hard to tell what your coral looks like in person. I can tell that it is a nice looking coral, no matter the color. But I gather from your post that yours looks similar to the picture I posted? that is very encouraging news.

It started brown. I hit it with a little too much light initially and have very low nutrients. It faded to a light pink with even lighter tips. I've backed off on the light intensity and now it looks about like the picture you posted. My lighting is on the bluer side. It did not do well in high intensity lighting for me.

Yes, I have one that is about 7-8" and looks exactly like that color in real life.

It is much bigger now, but this is when I first got it. Color still isn't as accurate as it is in real life.

thanks everyone - especially birdman and holsteiner. very helpful info/advice. I just spoke with Jon at Treasure Coast Corals and he did say I should look forward to the coral. But I wont be getting it until next week (my choice). Sorry to start the discussion so prematurely. I will spend the next few days finding a good low flow & low light section of the tank.

I was under the opposite impression. I thought the eggcrate look a nice white so the coral should show up and look the color of the photo.
