If someone purchased a tusk at 1-2" and grew it up in captivity would it actually reach full size? I've heard they stay a lot smaller when brought into captivity early in life, wether this is true or not I'm not sure.

Would like to hear your theory's or facts on the subject.

Also would like to know a general growth rate a year.

I am thinking about getting a single one for my 60 gallon cube with no other fish in the tank and test it for myself and if he does get big upgrade to a 90 gallon in the future. Would like to hear what people have to say first though. It's just an idea for now.

Yeah, like I said it's just an idea, just really want to hear theory's on the subject and story's. General end size.

Australian Tusks general aren't collected that small...

Might take a while to find one. Most come in at around 3" for smalls.

Also, in many instances fish grow larger in captivity than their wild counterparts. If they are not growing to full size it may be a water quality issue, which can be exacerbated by keeping too large of a fish in too small of a tank.

Also I think the growth depends on the size of the environment(the tank size). A 60 gallon may stunt it's growth which is not healthy. I recommend a 180 gallon for them, some may say 125 gallon or at least a 6ft tank.
