I would just keep trying to feed it. Try putting a little food in the tank at night to get it to open then target feed it.

Not completely but in **** poor shape. You need to get it open and feeding, you might want to be feeding it separately out of tank or with a plastic bottle around it so you don't pollute up the tank until it is feeding normally.

Target feed it everyday at the same time for best results. I have one and have been doing a lot of reading on it

thanks guys i got 3 of the heads to open very little but it looks like its getting some color back then my lights shutoff for the night so figured id give it a hour or so and try some more

I had success with mine that I ordered from them by turning off the tank circulation and laying a piece of brine shrimp on top of it, he didn't extend but he ate it.

ok so its been about a month now and they are still not opening...i tried target feeding them and everything...only once did like a little yellow cone shape come out of the skeleton...other than that nothing...anyone else got any ideas or special places these grow in?

they are non photosynthetic and require fairly heavy feeding to each polyp. they are typically found growing under overhangs with little to no light on them whatsoever. They are also one of the rare corals that grow upside down so to speak....that is, you can mount them upside down adn it is normal for them.

do you know if this one is aquacultured or wild harvested

im not sure reefer54 i got it from reefs 2 go it just never opens unless i spray mysis shrimp on it for like 20 min then it will finally open then slowly closes back up ive got them in a cave with medium to low flow

You want to be posting this in the nps thread.
Your frag looks more like tubastrea to me.
To get it used to being open:
in a small (ie med. yogurt container) put tank water and cyclopeeze. Put the frag in, cover it (don't snap shut!) and wait 30 minutes, before putting it back in the tank. Do this every day for as long as it takes - but you should see a response within a few days. After a few weeks, mount the frag, upside down or wherever, as long as there is significant flow.

thanks teemee im going to try and get it open again and snap a pic and post it later hopefully...wont that stress it out taking it in and out of the tank?

maybe a little, but not so much as starving :) it's a tried and tested method. You should check out Noy's thread in the non-photo sub-forum. good luck!
