Australian LPS [Pic intensive]

Hiya,

in recent posts I saw mention of Oz corals of various types so I thought I'd post some pics of mine. None of the pics are altered in any way other than cropping and resizing. I've also taken shots with and without flash for comparison and have included closeups. Pics were taken with a Pentax Optio S60. This will be in multiple parts because of the limitations on number of pics. Part 1. Enjoy...

Here's my Trachyphyllia geoffroyi

My little Lobo

A Platygyra lamellina. A little recession on the bottom where a power head was pointing at it which is now redirected. Hopefully it will regrow over it.

A Galaxea fascicularis. Only just got this. Was a little wary knowing their aggressiveness but I think I have it placed well enough.

Just realised I could have added the rest as replies instead of new threads.

I have 2 Duncanopsammia axifuga. A very nice coral and quite common over here.

I'm not exactly sure what this one is. I think a type of Acan from the colour and size (30-40mm) but not sure. Still it was nice but unfortunately like most of my other Acans, died following a topup accident. Went away for 2 weeks and came back to find the topup had dumped 10 litres of kalk in the tank. For some reason the Acans were the worst affected and I lost 5 of my 6 colonies. Everything else in the tank was ok though a bit unhappy about it.

Sorry got carried away there, but it is a beautiful coral.

Here's some Acan lords. I had others but didn't have any pics of them.

This is the only Acan I have left and luckily it was my favourite. Still struggling but I'm hoping it will pull through.

My Blasto wellsis. They're not very common over here. Merlitis are but not the wellsi so I was lucky to find these.

The orange shots are with the flash on.

Interesting how the availability of various corals differs in different countries. Here Duncans and Acans are pretty common and relatively cheap while something like Ricordia are rare and expensive. Also, the varieties are different. I've never seen some of the colour morphs you guys get in the States, like purple Blastos etc. The only good thing is that what we get is pretty reasonably priced.

No. I've gone off softies apart from zoos and mushrooms. Had too many problems with them affecting my other corals in my small tank (3 footer)
