Australian SPS

New frag! :D Blue Boa Aussie Echinata.

Sad to report that my true echinata colony is no longer. Had to frag it all up this weekend after a long and slow decline. Colony never really took and slowly STN'd at the tips and underside. I am hearing from others that this coral is very difficult. In the past I had always found echinatalike acros to be pretty easy. Hopefully a good % of the frags survive.

It happened to mine also, however, I believe it maybe the the light that burn the coral. Some of us are thinking it might not need too much light for this coral. Suggestion?

Oh man that blue piece is awesome Agent SPS. I have to keep a look out for that coral. What name did they have it listed as?

interesting that people are saying it doesn't like a lot of light.
This is the same aussie echinata I posted earlier. It's in the brightest spot in the tank under a 250w ushio 14k in a lumen max elite.

Mine is directly under a 10K 400w and knock on wood, seems to like it.

I've been looking lately on Live Aquaria but haven't seen any Echinata colonies come in. I did manage to buy the aquacultured frag today of the true echinata on DD though. Does anyone have any updated shots of their Aussie acros?

Thanks! Here is an updated pic:

The only ones I've seen that will consistently retain a similar sky blue color under tank conditions are Hoeksemai. My Hoeksemai grows in a more staghorn fashion but your tank condition/light/flow can definitely alter the form of a coral.
