Couple questions on these.

#1 - How are they to frag? Any advice?
#2 - What's standard retail value?

Thanks!

They look more like a montipora which is an SPS than a LPS coral. With montipora you can just cut them up in pieces and glue to frag mounts. Have no idea about this one you have and I don't have the time to search Google for it maybe someone will come along that is familiar with them

Oooh, nice Australomusa you got there! When you frag, you need to make sure there in an intact mouth per frag like you would an acan. As far as price, most people still do not know what this species is as you can see from the post above. I also thought I read that some are unable to keep long term, but don't quote me on that. GL

whatever you're smoking, I want some!

indeed...make sure there's a mouth.

IME they do keep well. I've got frag of this badboy....i've had it almost 8-10 months. It hasn't grown much, but it's doing swell

haha....it's really that colourful, esp under more white lights. Jake Adams (from that reef building website that will remain unnamed coz it's banned on here, apparently - just google for the article) even wrote an article on rainbow corals that included this exact australomussa.... uhh, did I just name drop!?

anyhoo, the mother colony was fragged with a diamond band saw......very dense calcium skeleton observed....perhaps indicative of a very slow growth rate

I've seen the article, and have seen a few more vendors carrying this species, just not that colorful. One of a kind for sure.

Also thought I read that Australomussa was re-classed to Parascolymia.

Quote:
It's interesting to note that more than twenty years ago Veron made a footnote in Corals of Australia and the Indo-Pacific that the then named Australomussa rowleyensis and Scolymia vitiensis could look very similar and now we know why.

I had one years ago they are a wonderful coral. Still uncommon in the hobby. As far as fragging I would get it acclimated and growing first. You probably need a mouth for sure.
