+ Auto Top Off Idea

Im in search off a quick and easy auto topoff idea, I've been reading around and alot of the DIY require some kind of electric work.

So I though, would this work...

Get a container and place a powerhead inside.

Attach a tube to the powerhead and place the tube inside your tank.

Get a auto timer, and plug the powerhead into it.

Set the timer to go off every 30 minutes for 1 seccond. ( ae there timers that will allow this?

Would this work? it seems liek the easiest way to put water back into your tank.

I really don't think there are any timers that allow an on/off setting of less than 15 minutes, unless it would be a digital with that short a time span. I have never seen any. Could be others that have seen them though.

Right, thats what I thought.

I guess I'll have to go with the gravity route. Simple jug with water, and a tub with some kind of valve into the tank. The only problem I have with that, is what if the vavle were to open itself somehow, the tank would overflow.

Not sure whcih method is the easiest and most convinient, any ideas guys?

Thanks,
Mario

Sounds like you aren't using any sensors. You are asking for trouble here. Since humidity variations and temp variations effect evap rate you will either overrun or underrun.

Hey,

I never even though abot that, good point.

Are there options for top offs on the market? I went to the local big als today and they didn't have any in stock. I will cehck others tommorow.

Thanks,
Mario
