Auto top off problem

Hey i fitted an ato to my system about 3 months back as i work away and the wife wants less maintenance. It has an issue that comes and goes. The water level is low and the pump kicks in as its ment to but then the high water alarm goes off as the float rises. So i gradually drain water and the pump kicks in again, then over fills. Its like there bouncing between each other. Any ideas?

Many thanks.

Mark.

Sounds like a siphon effect. Had a similar issue and flooded my basement a few times..... You can make the ato reservoir lower than the sump/tank as the siphon cant go upwards. If that is not an option, you can add a float valve and or a solenoid.

I would start with what alcatoe suggests, this is the most likely culprit, if your reservoir has 24" of water for example, the hose will need to terminate at least 24" above the ground. In general I would place the sensors in the sump, but always direct the top off to the overflow box or tank, the pump can handle 8ft of head pressure.

No its not that guys, its imposible the way ive set it up. I gave it a good vinager clean and so far so good, cheers, mark.

It could just be that bubbles were collecting on the sensor, when new the sensor repels water and attracts air and a vinegar or soapy water rinse will reduce that as will just a few days installed.
