auto top-off replacement

Hello folks.

I'm tired of problems from my Ultralife float switch. Help me pick out a new auto top-off device/ float switch that is more reliable. I've been thinking of using a peristaltic pump, but would need a failsafe float switch. I'm open to suggestions for anything other than the ultralife.

Please help me. :)

Thanks

I 've been using a LifeReef float switch for last couple of years ...no problems. I just clean the float and tube once in awhile.

what's wrong with the ultralife? the suction cup falling off? you can make a bracket with some acrylic or pvc so it doesn't move.

any other float switch uses the same relays that the ultralife does.

McMaster Carr has float switches that are in a snail proof housing....they also have the relays....U.S. plastics has the sheet pvc for making a bracket. Make the bracket adjustable

check out SpectraPure's liquid level controller (Marine Depot, $50) it's a pressure activated device (not mechanical), very reliable. I've use it to top-off evaporated water and kalkwasser for two years w/ no failures.

I had a major issue with my Ultralife! Their customer service was horrible to boot.

I replaced it with a MUCH better unit. Now I use the Reef Fanatic Level Controller w/2 Float Switches

Why Why Why?

Why Why Why?

I just cannot understand why everyone insists on using a float SWITCH all the time. Why not a simple valve and let gravity do the work for you.

It seems to me that someone along the line must have said "float switches are the in-thing to have" and everybody just went buggy. I read thread after thread of someone's switch going bad, or isn't perfect, or something.

I'm not saying that the valve is perfect either, but compare $6 to $50 and I'll take my chances!
