auto top off

Anyone here make an auto top off for your tank? I need something to fill my tank from a vessel lower than my display. It will need to fill the tank not a sump....because I dont have a sump :)

Easy to set up....but I bought the float switch (dual) online for under $50....just pug-N-play (pump not included). If you're good at diy, you can probably get away much cheaper. I wasn't planing on taking any chances...too important. Works well though.

Either way, I'd recommend dual swtiches...one is for backup.

Ahhhhhhhh!

Feeds my sump...... ...........sorry! :D

Yeah.....I'd say noticable if you'd use a dual set-up

Joe if you go to the reefcast.com web site in the show notes in the download section there are some links to some diy top off with float switches. I bought some float switches aquahub.com (linked in show notes). I have next week off and will probably be messing around with it then. I'm going to be building the one on melev's site, switch wise. I might try the double switch one depending on how the first one I make works.

But not bad at at and certainly worth doing...only one switch should be submerged at any one time and it can be housed in a piece of black PVC to hid it. Well worth it.

premiumaquatics sells a nice floaty switch with a remote relay for 50 bucks . i ended up getting one of them and a aquamedis sp 3000 to do the top off in my tanks i mix up a jug of kalk and when ever the sump gets low . away it goes. the switch is pretty small and i thinl it would work good in a tank .

joe- the one I have is a shortie- so would not be that visible. check marine depot or premium aquatics. made by reef fanatic. it comes with 2 floats if you want to do the hi-lo thing, or just have a backup switch and run as a single switch. have had it running for 4+years now with no issues. had a cheaper one that stopped working on me... though if you want to diy it with a better float switch, I'll give it to you super cheap.
