Automatic Skimmer Drain...watch this.

I setup a peristaltic pump in my shed, and it draws skimmate from my skimmer drain and pumps it into a drain on my side yard. I've had it setup this way for about 2 years. With my ATB auto neck cleaner, I only clean my skimmer cup every 3-4 months.

The main reason I did this was so I didn't have to store the skimmate underneath my stand where it could stink up my living room. Super convenient. [emoji1303]

That is really cool! My sump walls are too high to gravity drain my skimmer cup and that's annoyed me for some time. I never thought of doing this! Brilliant.

Does the pump have sufficient suction to prevent/dislodge clogs? My gravity fed drain clogs every few weeks or so.

I just gravity drain my skimmer cup to the laundry down pipe on the other side of the wall. Works a treat, half fills cup, then siphons the entire cup out :)

Doesn't the skimmer cup cover have holes yet it does not stink up the house?

just pointing out that pretty much everyone that has a skimmer essentially has skimmate stored under the tank and nobody complains about smell stinking up the house.

saving the step of emptying the skimmate container is a good reason to run the hose directly to a drain.
