automating a zeovit or ultralith system

Has anyone successfully automated a zeolith or ultralith system with the help of dosers and aquarium computer? I am interested in starting either system on my tank but the daily addition of chemicals sounds a bit of a pain to me and especially if I travel somewhere.

With some Zeo products they need to be kept in the fridge so auto dosing is near impossible. Most dosing pumps minimum dose is one ml which for most size tanks is too much.

API Instruments offer dosing pumps with very small doses but you can only connect these to a controller by using the timer functions.

Good luck!

Agreed with above - a truest full auto system would be very complex bc some zeo need fridge and you would have to get a high end doser - to accomplish it -

You would also need a dosing system that you can program different days on. I use mine for B-Ionics 2 Part. But my Zeo....some is every day dosing....and a couple I do Fridays and Mondays.

Friday to welcome the weekend.

And Monday to...well....not hate Mondays so much : )

You can set up your 1.1mL dosers via the Apex controller. I would use an EB4 though because all four outlets are relays allowing for a safe and secure on/off cycle.

The dosings of BAC and Coral Vitalizer would be almost impossible since they need to be refrigerated, unless you are willing to get a mini fridge just for that purpose. Make sure you double and triple check your dosers for accuracy. For instance my 1.1mL dosers actually dose at 0.97mL/min and 1.06mL/min, less than the rated value. I made sure to check this multiple times and also check the doser once a month for accuracy.

In summary, I do not auto dose my stuff. Sometimes I do not need to dose a component and use the "visual" check to dose on a daily basis. If I go on vacation I just cease the dosing until I get back then resume where I left off. I do not worry about people dosing for me as if they killed my tank I would be furious that I left them with an impossible task.

I also made a little trick for start3, which saves me a bit of time in the morning and at night. I used an old bottle of BAC and cleaned it out then filled it with Start3. I use the dropper to do 1 drop in the morning and 1 and night. 2 drops of Start3 is enough to keep my tank's nitrate and phosphate stable. Shoot even in the instructions it says that the values they recommend are what they have found to work and that every tank is different and will need to adjust the values. Once you find out what you need it is stable but it takes a lot of trial and error.

If you decide to dose make sure to use a relay outlet, you do not want a non-relay outlet failing and your tank getting too much of something, you will kill your whole tank.

Good Luck.

Zeovit is not a system to make automated. its an interactive system. if that made sense lol

biopellets, or diluted vodka/vinegar can be automated.

be careful diluting any carbon.
