The JBJ ATO is pretty cheap also.

ill back the aquahub ato. simple, easy. i believe it is aroudn $40.
forget tunze if you are on a budget.

Try the ATO from fishbowl innovations. It is a controller w/ a timer on it. It will shut down after (how ever many minutes you have it set for)if the float switches malfunction and doesn't break connection. It is a cool little unit. The only thing is that you will have to buy a pump. I have a aquamedic pump on mine and dose kalkwasser. Before that I had a maxijet setting in my reservoir. The entire thing will cost around 100 bucks. DOn't know if you are going to get an all in one setup for much less than that.

After seeing that aqua pump, 3.5 gph, I'm begining to wonder if my rio600 will be too much, 200gph. I could cut back on the flow and it will be at 1-2ft head, so that will help. Guess I could always buy one of those pumps instead, just to be safe.

pep, you'll also need to worry about the reservoir running dry and the rio burning up on you.

the aqualifter is very good for this application.

drstupid, yeah I was worried about that. Just might go with the aqualifter just for that reason. So all u need is that kit and the little 3.5gph pump?

I think you are better off spending the extra 10 bucks on the kit that has the extra float switch, the 3rd switch is used to shut off the system in case the reservoir runs low.

I use a MJ 400 with no issues. I built a little stand in my reservoir so that the pump is always slightly above the floatvalve.

So did anyone ever come to a conclusion on which auto topoff to get? Is the aquahub deluexe (3 float valves) pretty fool proof?

my conclusion was the 2 float valve Aquahub one. I can't use a third valve currently so two is fine, along with the aqualifter since it can run dry.
