Awake...

REALLY annoying to be finishing writing a PM at 9:15 in the morning (GMT) and have the server tell me that it is down for backup - had to keep that window open for a couple of hours before it would let me send....

GRRRR.........

Hey guys, check out these pics of the freaking cool little 2002 Mini Cooper S that I am going to (hopefully) be purchasing in a couple of weeks. I am so stoked....

Good Morning

Good Morning

Hey folks.....

Since I am missing the CRASE, I thought it would appropriate to tease you with my adventure of the weekend planned.

ROAD TRIP!!!!!!!!!

In 10 minutes, two fellow West London Reef Club reefers are showing up at my house (yes, 1:30 AM MY TIME). And we are going to hop in my lovely electric blue Mini Cooper S and drive to Dover, catch a 4:45 AM ferry to Calais, France. Then we'll drive through France, Belgium, and into the Netherlands to attend a one day (Saturday) mini reef conference where we get to hear Anthony Calfo and some other guy speak.

After the conference, the UK reefers have organized dinner & beers with Calfo and the other speaker. Then Sunday, there is some reef related surprise planned that has not yet been revealed.

Back home in the UK sometime close to midnight Sunday.

WOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! :)

Looks like the awake thread has died..... :(

Well, it's 2:23 AM and I am patrolling the borders of my insanity, so I thought I should post here......... Good evening, Oklahomans.... :D

Nice to see you back:D How is everything going:D

Things are spectacular....life is approaching normal again.

The first 3 months of being over here saw me staying at a total of 6 places. That was more then I expected due to the 3rd place I was staying involving a crazy (literally) landlord. However, after much craziness, I am now so freaking excited to be in my house.

The house is a 3 bedroom detached house that I am renting on the west side of High Wycombe (a city) in a little village called Downley. It is in the county of Buckinghamshire (with the -shire pronounced SHERR, btw, not SHIRE, learned that from my mockishly amused friends at work). :)

I have been collecting free house stuff from freecycle, having collected some really nice furniture and just about everything we need that we did not pack to bring ship over. As you may have noticed, I even got a free fish tank (woohoo!) which I am excited to begin setting up. I picked up the tank tonight.

Yesterday evening I visited the home of a member of the West London Reef Club (poke your head over in their forum and say hi :) ) who graciously gave me a small pile (about 15-20 pounds of dead live rock that had been sitting in his garden (back yard) in a bucket for a while. That plus some live rock and I'll be setup for rock to start out with. He also gave me some salt and an old hydrometer and a half bag of leftover sand. Freebies are good as I don't want my wife to kill me first thing when she gets over here for spending money on fish stuff. :)

Speaking of the wife, we just got the email today that the visas for the wife & kiddos have been granted by the British embassy in Los Angeles and are on their way to Ardmore. After they arrive and I get paid at the end of the month, I will by 4 expensive plane tickets and they'll be over here finally... WOOHOOOOO!

So anyhow, life is good. It's freaking awesome over here. But I am sad to miss The CRASE... :)

Cheers to all. Happy reefing..... :) ;) :D

Paul- Glad to hear all is going so well. Slipping over to the Netherlands for a Anthony Calfo talk...wow! We miss you here, except for the people who benefited by things from your tank...oh, wait...that would be me.

The tuxedo urchin is alive and well but every once in a while I see it pause, sniff, wipe a tear of sadness from it's eye. Must be remembering you. Or it could be from the pain of carrying around every-fricken-thing in the tank that is not nailed down on its back! You failed to mention that. Research before you buy you say? He is one of my favs even though I have to go behind him and pick up.

Oh yeah, and yes indeedy - the trip to the netherlands was freaking awesome. Aside from the coolness of doubling the number of countries I have ever visited in just one day (from 3 (USA, Mexico & the UK) to 6 (+ France, Belgium & the Netherlands)), the talks were awesome.

Calfo & a dutch guy gave this awesome two person talk on photography. That is what I was planning on righting up and posting as a mini photography article. I still have my notes and will get it posted EVENTUALLY..... :)

Yes, Catpn', you wouldn't miss OK this week. We've finally hit trippled digits and there's no end in sight. The weatherman said probably Sept.

My electric bill was $350 last month. I'm afraid of August's bill.

I know the feeling Capt. there are lots of things i miss from home, but Oklahoma isn't one of them lol.

Don't feel too bad Steph, my average electric bill is $300 and can go up to $500 or more in the summer, and it rarely gets over 92*. I can't wait to see my August bill !!!!!!!!! It's been exceptionally hot and muggy here for the last few weeks. I'm expecting the electric bill to be higher than the mortgage this month.

It's 4:00 am. I am awake, patroling the borders of my sanity.

It's not 4:00AM but I should be sleeping nonetheless. Thought I would resurrect this thread. :)

Idea motivated by: The Spicemaster. I will invite him unmask here. :smokin:

I am afraid not! :(

But I will be back for a visit from about June 2-21 or so this year. :) Maybe I'll make a meeting or something...
