I guess not. I just assumed since my scooters do, they all did. They look so vulnerable just sitting there on the sand. Thanks for setting the record straight, Steve.

Let me see if I can create some additional confusion. Yes, I can!

Okay, so, we'll call it an open question. Yikes. That got out of hand rather quickly. :)

I would like any more info on your pair of mandarins if you could please share..i.e. do you have trouble feeding, do they eat frozen, any tank info.
Reason I ask is I have a female in my 180 that is doing fine but wont eat frozen, only pods. I would like to get a male but I am concerned about food supply.
great looking pair and thanks for sharing !

I think you will be just fine assuming you do not have copepod competitors e.g. sixline wrasse.

Honestly I'm really lucky with my male. Every time I saw a mandarin at the lfs they looked over stressed. But one day I went in and saw him. When I came to the tank he immediately flared his fins and started pecking the glass at me so I knew he was mine. So input him my 3 month old RSM130D I was kinda worried about not having enough pods for him but after 2 weeks in the tank he started eating mysis off my dendros.

So then 2 months later I ordered a female, with the hope that she'll follow the male and eat mysis also. 3 months later and she still hasn't. But she doing fine.

Sounds like you got a great pair and they are doing well. Although my female is doing well I think she will be very happy to have a male to , er, you know.

Thanks for the info !

Males have a pointy needle like bone on its top fin that extends and females have a rounded one one with no point.
