I find this product really hard to believe, it will drive your nitrates down to zero in just 30 days....

Has anyone ever used this product? What are it's cons?

thanks,

Mike G

YES! 30 days is an overstatement. It took my nitrates from constantly 20ppm to 0 in about 2 weeks on 380 gallons of water. You have to be on top of your skimmer because it will foam like nothing you have ever seen before. I emptied mine 4-5 times a day. I had no cons what so ever. SPS colored up significantly during the 2 weeks I used it (and have stayed there so far). If you use filter socks - remove them because it seems to clog those really fast.

I had great succes with it also awile back,But do suggest having a real a good skimmer/tuned or the product would be useless.

OK where did you find it? Manufacturers name or vendor or something? Anything that will get my 20 ppm Nitirates closer to zero is worht a shot. LMK please.

When I finished the bottle, I use sugar instead. having the same result too.
But now rinning BB. Unable to measure N at all by API test kit.

I'm pretty sure marine depot carries it.

I got it from premium aquatics.

Just ordered from Marine Depot. I will report back once I start the dosing. Sounds like it works by bonding something to the Nitrate which then is removed by the skimmer.

Wow,

Looks like I started a mini club, count me in. My LFS has it and I'll try it.

I have a powerful skimmer the Deltec AP 600 so I'm sure it will be okay pulling out the NOG.

As a matter of fact since I'm way over rated for my size tank with my skimmer it will be nice to see it start working again, it's been just sitting there chillin.

Hey for the price I paid, I'd love to see her back at work.... :)

p.s
It's been literally impossible for me to get my trates any lower than 10 ppm... I use to have 20 ppm when I first noticed I had a serious problem... Water changes and lighter feeding got me to 10ppm... I just haven't been able to get lower....

Your skimmer will start working again thats for sure. When i used it,i had a ASM G3 and it was foaming so hard.the foam was making its way out of a closed and locked lid.i had to wipe the outside of the cup a few times aday:D

Yep same here. I have a G4X and the foam was coming through the slits in the lid as well.

You are not going to get dark skimmate, just a TON of foam...

Once your nitrates were down, did you have to continue the product to keep them down?

I did not,In fact if I remember right,That first time I came over and asked you to double check my nitrates was about a month or so after use.And the tank weaned off it.But I had made other changes, so its hard to say if the nitrates would have rose again over time. But I don't I think they would of, as long as the tank is given time to take back over the biological function.(weaned off slowly as directions say to do)
I would definitely use the product again if the need arose.

I think the directions tell you to reduce the dosage but continue dosing for awhile after Nitrates drop to negligible. This will wean the system off the addittive and return the filtration to the live rock bacteria. I will know more in a few days when my bag of magic beans arrives in the mail!

Has anyone else used the product with clams? I did not have any clams when I used the product, but I would like to know if it does have an adverse affect on all clams.
