Yesterday i went the the LFS and they tested my calcium and alkalinity both came back low...300 for cal and 1.4 for my alkalinity...i dont understand how they come back so low...i do a weekly water change and i use RO water and reef crystal salt...they recommended using the 2 part dosing method of B-Ionic Calcium and Alkalinity...

What can you guys say about that?

Try the Dr. Randy Holmes-Farley's expert forum. I use his two part home made additive and I've leveled out both my Alk and Ca levels.

I second the use of the homemade 2 part. I made it myself for about $20, for 1 gallon of each component w/ enough to make multiple batches.

i just started useing Randy's 2 part myself. i have been use B-ionic for awhile. but at $35(online)-$54(lfs) per 2gal (1gal of each part) i decided to make my own. it cost me about $3 per 2 gal(1gal of each part) and the mag supplement. i will stick with making my own!!

damn paintbug....$30 at my LFS for the 2gallon set:confused:

i didnt say i would pay that much LOL their prices are CRAZY high now. the only time i buy any dry goods from them is when they send me coupons. like 40-50% off coupons! they are not that bad with livestock except their corals. i almost hate going in there anymore. glad i found another LFS :D
