b- ionic question

I currently have a dkh of 8 and 350 ppm of calcium. How do I raise the calcium to around 400 without substantialy raising the dkh using my b-Ionic. My understanding is that a dkh of 8 or slightly above is optimal.

it says on the package that 1ml/ gallon will raise each a certain amount. I think it's 2.07 for dKh and 14 ppm for Ca, but check to be sure.

Using one will not raise the other, that's why it's two part.

I like my dKH around 10 and Ca 450.

So simply dose the one that needs to come up and once the proper levels are reached begin dosing them equally again. I wasnt sure due to the whole ionicaly balanced thing if they could be dosed seperate.

yes. So, if you like your dKH at 8, just keep dosing your maintenance amount and boost your Ca amount until you get it to the ppm you like. Then you can return to the maintenance amount. If you have been dosing a maintenance amount on both, you might find that you need a greater amount of Ca each dose.

Read the instructions, but I think they also say don't add more than 1ml/gallon per day.

test and retest with your kits

I always had to dose larger amounts of the Alkalinity part when using B-Ionic, but I'm sure that it was just MY setup that caused that. On the bottles, it will tell you exactly how much to add per volume amount to achieve your desired levels. May take a little basic math skills but all the info is right there on the label for ya. That was awfully nice, and much better than simply putting "dose 5ml a couple times a week' like I see on darn near everything else. My levels stayed right about where Steph listed her levels. 10-11dkH, 450ppm for Ca. They've lowered slightly since I switched over to Kalk but close enough for my inverts :D

after i do a water change i always use kent turbo calcium( just calcium chloride i beleive) to raise my level of Ca. Cause B-ionic is like a Ca reactor in the way it is bot inteaded to be used to raise 1 level.
