I just purchased 2 clams 1 is 3.5 (crocea) and a 1.5 maxima. I was told that they are possible past that stage of filter-feeding live phyto, is this true? I was under the impression that i need to feed dts phyto for some time. What is all of you re opinions on what is best to feed baby clams? Thanks:bum:

I feed Dts, coral vibrance, cyclopease, and other types of live phytoplanton, even if they are past that point a bit of food isn't going to hurt them, that and i have sps/lps so I need to feed it anyway.

This is an ongoing debate among Clam keepers and researchers alike. Lately, the debate has been swinging towards Clams never needing to be fed. I on the other hand feed mine at all sizes. I only have 2...lol. They're about 3" and 4". From a lot of research I've been doing lately, they feed best on tiny Phytoplankton. It seems that even Cyclopeeze is too large for them and they'll usually spit it out. I feed mine Isochrysis and will soon be adding Tetraselmis. I'll alternate the feedings. The reason for this is because Isochrysis is high in DHA but low in EPA, while Tetraselmis is high in EPA and lower in DHA. Feeding both will offer a more balanced diet. I purchase live phyto.

From what I've read, DTs and Phytofeast are 2 very good products as well. RC has a lot of great information on Clams, as does
