Baby Ric? - ID please

RichT

Moved On
These guys recently popped up. They are about the size of a pencil eraser. Location to other rics and general appearance tend to indicate baby rics but they didn't seem to have been reproduced as usually expected. Hope their good guys whatever they may be.

Thanks,

It would be unusual for R. florida to reproduce by means of pedal laceration and create those smaller polyps.

It would be more likely that they are the offspring of a polyp of R.yuma. But, because of the subtle movements in pedal laceration one would expect to see a mature polyp nearby. I guess the adult polyp could have been removed for some reason or they are polyps of hitchhiking Pseduocorynactis/Corynactis.

Actually, the polyp above the babies is R.yuma and obviously the one to the right is R.florida. The yuma was retracted into a connected crevice prior to the appearance of the babies. What struck me as odd was the coloration's of the babies much more resembles that of the R.florida than the yuma. I hope you guys are right as the pink, purple and greens of the yuma are quite nice.
