Baby Seahorse

Congrats on all the seahorses! I'm considering getting some but how do you catch the fry? Patience and a net? They're to small to catch by hand aren't they? But nets hurt their plated skin. Fish trap?

For fry, I used to siphon them out, and even use a scoop. Eventually I switched to just using a fine mesh net and have been doing that now for years.
For juveniles and adults I don't use a net, just my hands.
Believe me though, you've a lot to learn before getting to the fry collection stage. Check out the old threads over the last 4 or 5 years and see what you can gleen from those posts, and, do more research using your favorite search engine.

Hi Ray, yes I really don't have high hopes but I will certainly try my best. I have been reading as much as I can on this and asking questions. I just know with todays technology things change with equipment and even nutrition. I always try and keep up with the times.
Thanks again, Mike

Hi Ray, No it no problem. I really don't have high hopes, but like I said I owe them my best. From all the reading and research I have been doing, most don't survive the first time. I am a true believer in technology. People learning from their or other peoples mistakes making thing better. (sometimes less is more though LOL)
I really do appreciate all the help and information you have been giving me. I do believe it is giving these little guys a fighting chance.
I have noticed since the fry have grown they are eating more and producing more waste. The water seems to dirty up faster. I decided to do a 30% water change in between the 100% every other day change. I have been enriching the BB and rotifers with dans feed and protein plus. I am still using the RG complete twice a day feeding for the rotifers with some spirulina once a day as a mid day feeding.
My daughters are always checking up on the fry trying to see how many we have and how they are doing. My oldest likes to be involved in changing the water and the feeding. I explained to them that we can't expect them all to make it, that how things can change very quickly and that we will just have to wait and see?
Thank you again, Mike
