baby shrimp

Cruella

In Memoriam
what a day. my friend breaks down two 100 gallon tanks. I come home from work to find rubber maid after rubber maid of coral, for free. anyway after I was done cleaning up I looked in my sump to find that I have tons of baby shrimp. I know that they are not pods. I do know what they look like.you can tell that they are shrimp. so the problem is one, they could be baby mantis shrimp, which will suck or they could be peppermint shrimp, fire shrimp or coral banded shrimp. know do you think that my manderine's will eat them ,please say yes??

okay ..very common and not a food source for manderines. they like low flow areas. in my experience when i see them its a good sign of water quality. too fast and big for manderines. THEY ARE NOT POD'S. in any case no worries as they are good sump/fuge dwellers that cause no known issues as far as i know. ive had them reproducing in my sump for a few years now.
my oppinion is that its normal when intro new rock. as far as i know when not epidemic they pose no issues.
i have been repeatedly told they are related to mysis shrimp. ? again great sump critters!Just M.O.

baby brine shrimp possibly?

and oh share that free coral wealth with the club :D (oh lucky one)

Definitely Mysis shrimp, or as Dave said, some variation of them. Common to have and I believe mandarins will eat them. Don't know how nutritional they are though.

I told linda that I would share the coral. there is just to much I have sun polps about 100 on this group. I turned my lights on last night and they are beautiful. I have a leather coral, maybe a colt or kenya tree that is the size of a basketball. 6 different colors of mushrooms, different kinds(stripe, hairy) some kind od purple and yellow sponges, trust me the list goes on and on.

Both Robin and I will be at the meeting Cruella. Before you post any corals for the swap (if you were planning on doing so), we would be interested in a frag of sun polyps. Not sure if there is any coral you are looking for I could trade.

i wasnt exactly sure if a manderine would eat them, mainly due to thier speed. they cruise fast and r aware of anything near them. good to know. i did not mention this but i have tons of these in my sump! also tons of spagehetti worms if anyone wants some. they are the yellow tenticle variety.
