Baby snails in tank

My tank has been up and running for about 4 months now and I have just started seeing tiny snails on my glass and sand. Can anyone identify what type of snails these are. My nassarius defiantly laid eggs so I was thinking that's what they are?

Well not without a picture but if I had to guess I'd say Collonista snails

They are tiny you can see the pods next to them. I have only seen about 2 in the tank so far mainly in the evening or at night.

It kind of looks like a baby Stomatella snail from that picture. Can you tell us a little bit about the shell? Is it round, flat, are there any markings on it etc?

It has a conical shape just like a nassarius snail the shell color is grayish in color I'll try to get another picture of one later if I can find any.

Do you have any other snails in your tank? A conical grey shell kind of reminds me of a Cerith snail, especially since your not seeing that snorkel.

Nasarius and astrea turbo snails are the only snail I have in the tank. I saw one earlier and could not get a picture of it because it was on the rocks and it looked like it was eating algea off the rocks possibly.

Thanks Rcook. About the only thing I can't see is whether there is sculpture on the shell, and if there is, how strong it is. It's not going to be a "bad" snail. It is most likely one of the tiny rissoid species, of which there are hundreds or thousands, and they are harmless. The other option, as some have suggested, is that it is a juvenile cerithiid, although most species don't have that shell geometry as juveniles...yours looks like an adult, or almost adult.

Cheers,

Don
