Baby Undulated Pics

Had a tank up and running for months just waiting for one of these monsters. Those are all of the shots I could get before it began to protest by laying flat on the sand on the other side of the tank and staring at me with hatred.

I was attempting to make it a nice cave, but it bit me and decided to make it's own cave. Dragging shells and spitting sand everywhere when it's not beating the snot out of it's own reflection. Eating pellets within 10 minutes of acclimation.

This one will not play well with others, and I couldn't be happier.

Nice, what size tank is it in? Any tankmates?

I have an ~2" undy in my office 150 with some damsels(dwindling in numbers). Surprisingly difficult to get pics of.

Right now it's in an Aquapod...I think it's 24g. I got that when I was stuck with store credit after trading in all of my livestock a few years ago. Never used it, but should have. Looks pretty sleek sitting on a desk. Figured I could use it as a grown out tank for a tiny slow growing trigger.

But the "baby" undy came in a little bigger than I really wanted, about 2.5 inches. The planned move to a 55 will probably come a lot sooner than I had anticipated. No tankmates planned at this time.

Well, the good news is they grow slow, so dont think that in a year you'll have a 6" fish like you would with a queen trigger, you'll probably only see about an inch or an inch and a half of growth in a year.

See, I think the orange tail version of these guys look better than crosshatch trigs. Great looking undy!

After spending much of the evening exploring the tank, it picked out a cave and is now rushing out periodically and firing its triggers...then darting back to the cave. I can't get a picture from the side or a focused view of the chompers but here are a few more pictures.

Wife is in love with that baby pic!!!!!!!!

so beautiful but so very, very mean and aggressive...they kill and torment for the sheer delight of it...they are great fish with awesome personalities...

Anyone keep these with larger fish and succeed? I have a "baby" in a 180 with some larger fish (i.e. clown trigger, mappa puffer, spiny box puffer, Disjardini, yellow tang and a Majestic Angel). I am probably going to trade him away due to a little more research on their killer ways, but if someone can convince me of success I might change my mind...love these guys!

Fish wasn't too happy with the footprint on that first tank. After it settled it began pacing the glass and relentlessly digging in the corner of a tank. Moved to a standard 29 gallon with less rockwork. Seems to be enjoying the height of this tank.

The undy and I watching some baseball.
