Back from Bahamas & totally disillusioned

with the whole tank idea. The reefs in the Bahamas were just amazing, so many types of fishes and corals, just beautiful, and then I come home to my tank, which granted, is nothing compared to most of the tanks I've seen around here, but still. It's like coming home to a penny after being at Fort Knox. I'm feeling so disillusioned with the whole idea of keeping a reef tank. Can I just say again that the Bahamas reefs are amazing!!!

The corals did not look bleached to me. HOwever, I'm not sure I'd know it for sure if I was seeing it. I did take photos, they don't do justice to the reef. If I ever figure out how to post pictures, I can let you see for yourself if they look bleached or not.

after a january cruise i had the complete opposite reaction. i was determined to to put things in my tank that i saw in the carribean. i will suceed to build a beautiful reef in my own vision.

They Bahamas are very beautiful and the tanks and reefs I've seen there have been amazing as well. your reef can be just as beautiful

We went to Nassau, Allan's and Exuma Cays. Thanks for the encouragement with the tank. I know my tank definitely needs something. Alot of something, just not sure what. It doesn't look like the reefs in the natural setting. Too much persistent algae and this brown dusty scum layer on top, I have no idea what that is, it just seemed to have developed while I was away. It's just a whole different experience to swim in the reef vs. create a "snapshot" of one.
