Back glass color

What color is the back of your tank? Which do you think looks better blue or black?

I like the dark blue better than black.
But once the coraline grows over it you won't be able to tell what color it was.

I like the black, I think its a better contrast for color. I cant stand corraline covering the black glass, but its a huge pita keeping it off of there.

I have black, but part of me wishes that I had used a dark blue. Forget growing coraline on the back, grow green star polyps!

Mine is black. I agree with Chuck. I chose black because I thought it was a better contrast, too.

Mine is black and I like it. But I also like the cobolt blue ones too, so if mine was blue I wouldnt complain either.

I found saw this the other day. If you can keep the coraline off, I bet it would be a pretty neat effect.

I actually like a black background a little bit better because of the contrast and I definitely enjoyed the black starboard we had on the bottom of the 90. If you are going with black silicone, I think an all black tank would look really sharp.

Those LED light things are nice, but as everyone has said, coralline really kind of ruins all of these effects (even if you clean the glass, overflows get covered). I'd be more likely to want an all rock wall so that you can't even see the back and can affix corals pretty much everywhere, but I kind of feel like the foam walls would be tough to implement for a whole tank (they try to float and would be immensely heavy to fit in if you build them out of tank).

I have a blue tank and 3 black tanks.... The blue tank is currently setup as reef, but it will shortly be FOWLR, and I think it'll be nice for that, and the black is nicer for reef.

Currently have a 55g with a blue background and have made a foam back on a 125g that will be running probably at the end of summer.

The foam is regular GreatStuff. Cool project, but I really don't like the yellow color. Found out yesterday that the Depot has the grey color foam in there landscaping dpt. The 125g just may be stripped here shortly and replace with the grey foam.

Do youl roll on blue/black paint on the back glass or just hang the paper??

I have always just taped off the tank and tank opening completely and sprayed the back with spray paint.
