Back into reefing-where to go on East Side

Hey guys,

I was a reefer a couple of years ago but had to sell it to move to this side of the state. I just recently acquired a setup and need to find some good stores that are not 1.5 hours away (like Salty Critter). I live near Burton and I need to get ahold of some frags here shortly to begin propagating my tank again. Thanks for your help and this forum has always been a great resource for me in the past and once again now.

East side suffers from a horrible lack of "GOOD" LFS. RMS in Willoughby is "ok" I've never seen anything in there impressed me. And I can't say I've seen anything other then leathers.... But that is just MHO.

I think Salty needs to open an East side store =)

lol i think salty needs to expand to close around here

srtn8 - do you happen to drive an SRT? and a good place to go to look for some decent corals would be tropical aquarium in brunswick, he has some real good prices...like frag prices for colonies

I used to drive an SRT-4 but got sick of paying for premium gas and driving it in the damn snow up here....so I traded it in on something a little more sensible for my needs...a damn Caliber..lol does anyone have a link or address for this place in Brunswick? My buddy back home in Dayton always orders from petsolutions.com and they are based in Beavercreek, ohio. I think i may stick with them until I find another good place up here. I did get the pleasure of being raped by Aquarium Adventure this weekend...and I went to some ghetto petland that wanted 130.00 for a flame angel..lol.

i have to agree, not much on the east side if you want any type of corals. I go west side myself, wish they did have one over here.

dude you had to of been on SRTforums then, you prolly dont remember me from there but i was the one that destroyed the blue srt-4, i knew your name on here looked familiar

i have some frags ready of some branching frogspawn in both electric green and in a purplish color with a green center, hopefully some monti and zoo frags soon, also if you need any equipment i have some for sale

tropical aquarium is in a plaza thats pretty much on the corner of 42 and 303, hector is the owner and is very good guy to talk to for info and if you want any type of fish he can get it in for you

the number is 216-235-7993

yeah i remember you now..lol...I decided to get out of the car scence because it seems like where ever you go in an SRT-4, it does nothing but cause trouble..lol. Plus I had a real problem with laying into it alot. I think I am good on equipment. I need a couple powerheads and thats about it. Next weekend Im gonna make a denitrator. I made one on my old tank and it actually worked really really good. Also, I will probably make myself a sump/refugium sometime down the road. What type of equipment do you have for sale and what are you looking to get for it?

i just built a coil denitrator..you can find the diagrams for one online. It works good but I use a gravity feed system instead of forced w/ a pump. If you give it about 3 months itll really reduce your nitrates

lol..i just realized what i said....i didnt just build one...i built one a few years ago from plans on the web..sorry bout that

i wantd to try that as well. but not so great at DIY. I have not found the fittings i think i would need. Let me know wher you buy the stuff for it if you do.

hmm im going to have a 3x175W MH retrofit for sale that i would like 300 for

and i have a precision marine bullet 1 skimmer with a sedra pump for feeding it, i would like 200 for both, they work amazingly well

Hi SRTN8 I live in Huntsburg and I have to admit that there is not any store close worth while. I now usually just order on-line. I know people do not agree but there is NO LOCAL fish store. If I am heading out west Salty Critter is the only one worth while in my opinion. I do not know what your looking for but I have some of the common stuff I could give you. Let me know what your looking for. Rod

i know two guys here in warren that have beautiful frags for sale. pm me and ill put you in touch. im in newton falls and would love to see your set up. only in the hobby since jan and enjoy meeting fellow reefers. jeff

hell yeah some free frags of anything would be cool. I usually stick with simple stuff like mushrooms, polyps, and xenia, anthelia. i am still cycling my tank but it wont take long since the sand and tank itself was used by my buddy for a couple of years. I have power compacts on this setup which they are ok but I really like the VHO's I had on my old setup alot better. My biggest problem now is that the ******* chromis keep going into my overflow..lol. I guess any fish that costs less than 5 dollars cant be the smartest animal..lol.

I never really talked on here alot before but it seems that the cleveland area reefers are all pretty cool. Once i get my stuff up and running (hopefully as well as before) ill be giving out frags to the new guys too.

I live in pa but 'hookedonfish' has a frag tank set up and is a very nice guy. I don't know how far you are from niles but he has nice stuff at a great price. He is my local fish store. Haha
