Bacteria Bloom help?

Yesterday, found a leather covered in a brown substance. Removed leather from tank. Within 2 hours tank became cloudy.

12 hours later tank still cloudy. Does anyone know what this might be? How does it come? How do I get rid of it?

I was away for 4 days. When I came back all I did was scrape algae from glass, clean skimmer, & changemicro pad

id try running carbon, and test your water parameters. might need to do a waterchange.


maybe there was some chemical warfare, or something might have died in the tank.

Run a uv sterilizer. It should kill any free floating bacteria etc. I run one on almost all my systems. I usually move one or two mobile ones from tank to tank.
