Bacteria question

I havea question about my bacteria.... at least I want to check and see if my logic is right. I used RO - DI water to stock (and a bit from a store that was RO - DI) so any nitrates should be very minimal.

My 75 has been up and running for about 5 days with 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite. The tank did have 80 pounds of very well (according to Les at Fishys) cured LR and 30 pounds of live sand.

I have been feeeing a foxface for 4 days and he is eating very well. Once I got the temp down to 83, he colored up gorgeous so I think he is not feeling stressed by either ammonia or nitrite.

My nitrates registered between 0 and 10 on a test, so I think I can probably conclude that bacteria that nitrifies ammonia and nitrite are already in my tank becaus9especially with 0 readings), you would beedthose bacteria to have nitrate producing bacteria, right? If that's the case, I tend to think I can add another small fish as long as it is hardy.

Down to 83? What is the original temp then?

I woke up the second day and the temp was 90 - yikes! Each day it has gone down a couple of degrees. The biggest steps were removing the glass covers from the top and opening up the stand at night so that the fan could circulate the air on the sump.

Amazingly the foxface, though stressed, managed the 90 degrees!

I just found a kink in my tubing to the pump (it was behind the stand) and the pump, lacking enough water to work right I guess, was way too hot. I think that may have caused the temp increase, too. I fixed it so we will know soon enough.
