Bacterial Issues

My tank is 5-6 weeks old now and my water is cloudy. My rocks sump was covered with a clear slime. The rocks in the DT are slime free. I dosed MB7 for about a week and dripped kalk to supplement. That is when the water got cloudy from bacteria. Since then I have been doing water changes. I even pulled the sump out and hosed all the slime out. My coralline is growing like crazy but the water remains cloudy. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hi,

Your tank is very new. Consider tank life in years; it often takes a good year to 3 for the tank to really become stable and established. Personally I would not bother with supplements like Kalk and MB7 for at least 6 months to a year. Get some soft corals and few fish and give the tank some time to settle. Keep doing the water changes and give it some time.

Another note on supplements, kalk is a good one, but most are total useless and will cost you $. Reef chemistry is very complex before you start adding chems, once you start to add stuff it will become complicated to the point where you nor anyone will be able to figure out what the heck is actually in your water and what chemical reaction are taking place. My advice is to keep it simple.

Anyway that is my 0.02.

Like said before. I would stop dosing since that seems to be the start of the prob. Did you test before you dosed ? Keep up with a weekly water change until the water clears up.
